The White Bay Power Station GRAD Project:
Re-Bloom
When entering the desolate White Bay Power Station (WBPS) site, the vibrant sensory experience and rich history of the country, which this now defunct architecture sits within and is apart of, becomes muted and dull.
Inspired by the evergreen Moreton Bay Fig tree, which once thrived on the site and now stands diminished, Re-Bloom aims to enliven the site, creating a community center that revitalizes the WBPS and reconnects it to country through a rich sensory experience.
Through a multi-sensory journey exploring the shifting seasons of the Saltwater Country (Gari Grad/Nura) on which the site resides, Re-Bloom seeks to restore the site’s connection to it’s natural origins and imbue it with renewed energy.
